Anita had the good fortune to move to Colorado when she was 11 years old. She instantly fell in love with Colorado. Anita's parents owned and operated their own small business, instilling in Anita a strong work ethic and respect for the entrepreneurial spirit.

Anita’s spirit of service started early. She even met her husband at a presentation after her service trip to Mexico with Habitat for Humanity.

Anita and her husband Matt have three children: Phoebe, Ian and Katie.  As a mother and City Councilor, Anita is always motivated to protect and improve the quality of life on behalf of her family, her neighbors, and all Westminster residents.  Like most Westminster residents, Anita’s family frequents the local parks, festivals, libraries and recreation programs. Anita knows firsthand how important high quality, affordable programming is for a strong community.

Anita has proven that she has the commitment, skills, and values to effectively serve our community.  Anita has five years experience on the Westminster City Council.  Anita is committed to life long learning, during that time she has invested in on going professional development from the National League of Cities, and the Colorado Municipal league to learn best practices in city leadership.  She has an undergraduate degree in Earth Science from the University of Northern Colorado and a Master’s in Business Administration from Regis University (December 2013).  In 2016 Anita received a Gates Family Fellowship to attend the Harvard University, John F. Kennedy School of Government where she was Awarded a Certificate of Completion for the Senior Executives in State and Local Government Program.  Prior to her appointment to Council, she was the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for a local Employee Benefits firm.

Anita has served on Westminster City Council since December 2013.  In 2015 residents overwhelmingly voted to re-elect her to another term on city council In 2018 she was humbled when her colleagues chose her as Mayor Pro Tem. In 2019 Anita was once again resoundingly reelected by Westminster residents, and was honored to be chosen by her colleagues to continue to serve as Mayor Pro Tem following her election.

During her time on Council, Anita has proven to be a deliberate, strategic and effective leader.  She has championed and advocated for major initiatives, like sustainability and affordable housing, while carefully weighing policy decisions, considering both intended and potential unintended consequences.  She actively solicits and responds to feedback from Westminster’s residents.  Anita has consistently demonstrated her ability to find sound and innovative policy solutions for difficult challenges facing the city.
